I thought I would write up a Body Beast Tempo Chest and Tris Review today. I love getting things in the mail from Beachbody! Every single package I get makes me feel as if I am opening a present from a
good friend like it’s my birthday or something! Yeah, I know lol…and today, I got the Body Beast Tempo DVD!
Gearing up for my next 30 Day Challenge Group where I will be doing another round of Insanity Asylum, I decided that I not only need some more Results and Recovery Formula but also I should pick up the single Body Beast – Chest/Tris and Back/Bis DVD to sort of try it out.
I admit, I have been intrigued by Body Beast since it was released a couple of weeks ago and thought that this might be a good opportunity to test my out my inner beastliness or lack thereof before I went ahead and purchased the whole program.
For those of you that do not know, Body Beast is the newest home fitness program from Beachbody. Body Beast is about one thing and one thing only – getting BIGGER! The body beast himself is Sagi Kalev, who is your fitness trainer for the next 90 days and the selling point of this program is that it will add 10lbs of muscle to your frame in just 90 days.
The program comes with fitness/nutritional guides, optional but highly recommended supplements, and even equipment if needed (not much but you are going to need some weight and a bench and/or stability ball).
MAN UP. HULK UP. IN JUST 90 DAYS.
Pack on up to 10 pounds of massive muscle in just 90 days with this pro-level program. Created by renowned bodybuilder Sagi Kalev, it uses breakthrough sports science to get you big, while cutting fat to carve your physique like no other home training system—ever. Sagi pushes you to the edge to get you pumped out of your mind. With his help, you’ll learn how to train, eat, and live like a Beast.
TEMPO CHEST AND TRIS
One of the workouts is the Chest and Tris and Back Bis Combo Tempo DVD. Yesterday morning I did the TEMPO Chest and Tris workout and my chest is STILL sore 2 days later and I am not a newbie to working out either. My muscles were literally shaking throughout the entire workout. The tempo workouts are all about, yep…tempo.
There are three sets of each exercise and you start off with a lower weight/higher reps (15) for the first set but with 6 second negatives and 6 second positives. Then the second set of the same exercise, you increase weight/lower reps (12) but decrease the tempo time, 3 seconds up, but still 6 down. For the third, once again, you go up in weight/lower reps (8), but set your tempo time to 3 and 3 (which is still much slower than normal reps). It is MUCH more difficult than it sounds…I promise! My chest and triceps wer absolutely trashed (in a good way) from this workout. Here’s the principle behind doing tempos…
- Tempo Chest/Tris:
The number of repetitions you do in bodybuilding is important. Almost as Important as how long your muscles contract during each movement. Tempo Training is one of the most effective ways to keep your muscles under tension for longer periods of time, creating greater muscle mass overall. If you want to get big, tempo training is the way to get there. Now get ready to work.
- Tempo Back/Bis:
Same time-under-tension principles as the tempo chest and tri’s workout. Only this time, focusing on every fiber of your back and bi’s. The longer they spend contracting, the bigger they’ll get.
I was so impressed by the difficulty of this workout and the crazy isolation of the targeted muscle groups that I have no doubt that this program will produce some definite size. I plan on doing Back and Bis tonight so check back later for that review as well.
This may be my next full time program…I mean, who doesn’t want a little bit more lean muscle mass?

Purchase A Challenge Pack
I didn’t know they had a separate program that you could use as a test drive. I don’t have plans for the Beast but I can see where that CD would be worth it for many people!
Ugh I am about to start P90X2, but I really want to try Body Beast! One program at a time though. Thanks for the review Jared!
Thanks of breaking the workout down, It’s hard to understand some of them are done without doing it yourself or unless someone that is doing it breaks it down.
Keep up the good fight
My boyfriend just received his Body Beast program in the mail. Guess who opened it first? ME! I love getting packages in the mail, and I feel the same way you do, like it’s Christmas or something. Anyway, have fun with it and keep us posted. Bring out your Inner Beast.

Great review!! Had no idea you could take a part of it out for a little spin like that. Sounds like the Beast will be a major hit!!
Thanks everybody!
